This retro game is great fun. It is a colorful, responsive and a great way to get your run and gun on. Clash Force uses a square aspect ratio. In full screen, there are bars on the sides on my 16x9 monitor so I just play in windowed mode. It preforms flawlessly windowed, controls are very responsive. I played exclusively using an Xbox 360 controller. Great fun, great value, and highly recommended game.. Fun short retro action-platfomer.Gameplay is heavily inspired by the sidescrolling parts of Contra: the high rolling jump mechanic, the power-ups, the enemies, etcStages are short and straightforward and look good for the most part.Difficulty is well balanced and slowly cramps up, although overall the game is much easier than a Contra. Bosses for instance could have been harder, although to be fair, I've only played the game on Normal difficulty at the time of this review.Graphics look good for the most important and the universe is reminiscent of Bucky O' Hare while having its own style.Length is the same as some classic NES action games, it took me 40-45mins to beat on Normal on my first play.Musics are alright, although since they do not sound like it's coming from an old console feels a little out of place.Definitely recommended if you like this style of game, I only wish the game had a little more content or 2 player co-op.. ok ok this could be tough game i played since nes DAYS the game is a shoot em up game run & gun i would call better then contra but reminds me of another game mystical ninja on snes i used to play when get hit u lose power up gun start back with the default gun again i play it on hard u only start at 2 health packs after u lose it u die start back begin level u start at not front the begining of the game there no check point i would person say 3 to 4 star difficulty getting threw the 1 level but with sharp shooting u will be fine u get to select 3 other characters i pick the brown hedgehog went threw 2 levels still learning rules of the game anyway if u r looking for good shoot em up game this is it glad i invest this game personally nice shooter of the year. Very arcade, a nice platformer with stages that get more challenging as you progress. I like when a game does not feel unfair, and the curve of difficulty for Clash Force is well made. You can get trhough the whole game in a matter of a couple of hours depending on how you improve as you practice. It already was an awesome experience just in Normal Difficulty, and for sure I would like to try a higher difficulty later.. this game rules. Not as good as the games it imitates, but if you're playing this it's because you're bored of those games. One of those games where the easiest difficulty doesn't give you access to the full game, if you want to see all the stages you need to play on Hard or Expert. Even on the hardest difficulty I would say the game is Contra-lite, that's the game it's mostly trying to emulate and it isn't as difficult (I'm not saying this is necessarily a bad thing - a lot of the difficulty from those era of games would be from the technical limitations).
